Buy insurance early, ideally when you pay deposit for safari / flights. Then cancellations or interruptions before departure are covered.

Keep hard & digital copies of insurance policies, emergency contacts, policy numbers, local hospital/evacuation service numbers.

Declare any pre-existing medical conditions so coverage is valid.

If traveling to Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania, ensure your coverage (or multiple policies) cover both regions.

Bring medication with you; some may not be easily available, or your brand preferred.
